The Teachers Standards and Practices Commission is recruiting for an Executive Director with experience in working for a board of directors or a commission.

The position exists to implement Commission policy; monitor Commission standards; oversee all agency operations and procedures; represent the Commission at the legislature; serve as chief budget officer; serve as chief policy advisor for licensure and professional practices; and recommend educator sanctions against licensure to the Commission. The Executive Director is responsible for all agency outreach and partnerships with other education agencies (Department of Education; Chief Education Office) and Commission initiatives.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

At least five years experience:
1) managing a small to mid-sized agency or department
2) working with policy boards
3) developing policy
4) working in an education setting (K-20) 
5) working with the Legislature
6) teaching or training.

Education : At a minimum a Master's in Education or Higher.

Experience working with policy boards and ability to develop and facilitate policy development with a board. Good public speaking skills, good communication skills, ability to conduct meaningful training related to Commission business to all stakeholder interests.

Legal knowledge though not required would be extremely helpful; management experience
supervising; knowledge of legislative process; knowledge of university accreditation; knowledge of administrative law and impact on licensure property rights; equitable administration of extensive regulations, and ability to navigate both contested case, administrative rule process, and keen understanding of public meetings laws.
