The School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for a full time, tenure track, open rank (Assistant, Associate or Full) Professor in Strategic Management beginning mid-August 2018.

We seek a candidate with research interests in strategy, including those at the intersection of strategy and a related sub-field (such as technology, entrepreneurship, psychology, sociology, or economics). You will join an engaged research community in strategy, which includes Vince Barker (Search Committee Chair), Clint Chadwick (Management Area Chair), Tailan Chi, Minyoung Kim, Scott Mitchell and Jane Zhao, and are joined by faculty in HR/OB which include Rob Davison, Niki A. den Nieuwenboer, Jill Ellingson, Jim Guthrie, Douglas May and Catherine Schwoerer.

Duties:

  • 40%: Teach a combination of required and elective courses in Strategic Management at the undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels.
  • 40%: Conduct and publish research on Strategic Management in leading academic journals.
  • 20%: Engage in school, university, and professional service activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, successful candidates will have:

  1. A Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree in Strategic Management or a closely related field (must be earned by August 18, 2018.)
  2. Demonstrated teaching excellence in Strategic Management.
  3. Demonstrated excellent scholarship (or potential for excellent scholarship) as shown through publications and working papers.

For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor (with tenure) or Full Professor (with tenure), successful candidates will have:

  1. A Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree in Strategic Management or a closely related field.
  2. A record of sustained teaching excellence in Strategic Management
  3. A sustained record of excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully tenured at research-oriented university.
  4. A national or international reputation as a leading scholar in the field of strategic management (particularly for appointment at the rank of Full Professor).

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT:

Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant's scholarly and teaching record. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
