DONOR RELATIONS AND STEWARDSHIP OFFICER is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic stewardship programs and comprehensive, individualized stewardship plans for individuals and targeted groups of donors and potential donors. Will collaborate on crafting strategies, processes, and materials that help secure and strengthen long-term relationships between donors, prospects, and MIT; serve as primary liaison for centrally-held fellowships and presidential fellowships administered in the Graduate Education and Provost’s offices and oversee all related stewardship; evaluate, develop, and manage enhanced programs for professorship stewardship plans for MIT's top five professorship and top five fellowship donors ($50M+); serve as liaison across MIT's five schools for stewardship best practices of endowed professorships and manage and enhance stewardship for professorships administered centrally through the Office of the Provost; manage the assessment, creation, production, and distribution of impact reports for donors supporting selective MIT initiatives and other important giving areas without development representation; evaluate potential for stewardship needs related to Campaign priorities; and ensure the communication needs of donors are met.
Job Requirements: Bachelors’ degree, preferably in marketing communications, journalism, or similar field; five years’ experience in stewardship/donor relations, communications, or related field; strong writing and editing skills; familiarity with development writing and executive style/tone and ability to create content quickly; self-motivation; proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to handle several projects simultaneously in a dynamic, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment; and ability to interact effectively with a wide range of colleagues. Experience with fund-raising databases (e.g., Advance) highly desirable. Marketing communications background a major plus. Knowledge of science and technology and a background in higher education and project management helpful. Job #15044-P
