The School of the Arts & Architecture’s Department of Art invites applications for a tenure-track (assistant or associate) position in New Genres with an emphasis on Video and Moving Image work.
The Department is seeking candidates with the potential for exceptional research and excellence in teaching, who will actively contribute to the diversity of viewpoints, cultural backgrounds, experiences and practices of the faculty and students in the field of art.

Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates whose primary medium is Video and Moving Image. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the discourses of contemporary art, knowledge of contemporary moving image production and exhibition techniques and processes, familiarity with the histories and current practices of Moving Image work as well as of the broader field of New Genres art. We are seeking candidates to teach a variety of courses in New Genres which may include beginning and advanced undergraduate studio courses and graduate level studio, critique and seminar courses.

BA or BFA required; MFA preferred. Candidate should have an active exhibition record or a demonstrated history showing great potential for active exhibition. We are actively encouraging assistant professor level applications. Level of appointment and salary will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2018.

1) Curriculum vitae.
2) Statement of Teaching. – including mentoring/advising of under-represented student groups
3) Diversity Statement – e.g., how will you contribute to this community and what role will you play to enrich the campus culture valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion?
4) Portfolio (PDF - max. size 10MB). Creative work should be submitted either entirely in PDF form, or via URLs included in a PDF. The portfolio may contain up to 20 pages, each page containing one work with images, video stills, installation shots, etc. For each work, please include title, date, duration, links (when applicable), media, and a brief description. For video, moving image work/installation or performance documentation please include Vimeo links to excerpts. Excerpts can be whatever length you choose, however, the cumulative total for ALL video submitted should not exceed 15 minutes. (Please double check final PDF to make sure that the Vimeo hyperlinks work properly!)
5) You may include Vimeo Links to full-length works in your portfolio (optional)
6) You may include a Link to your website (optional)
7) Names and contact information (mailing address, email address and phone number) of three professional references. (Actual Letters of recommendation are not requested at this time).
