The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry invites applications for an Associate Dean for Research, a full-time, research-intensive, senior-level, tenure-track faculty position. UAB is a research-intensive university institution with over $361 million in research funding in 2016. The School of Dentistry has ranked first nationally in NIH/NIDCR funding for each of the past five years. The successful candidate will: develop and lead a major research program within the School of Dentistry; engage the substantial expertise throughout the UAB campus and take a leadership role within it; provide leadership and management of the school’s research enterprise, which includes research strategic planning, assisting with recruitment and retention of research faculty and staff, mentoring and advising, review and approval of research proposals and oversee compliance with university research policies and procedures, while continuing an individual successful research enterprise as an example for fellow faculty. Applicants should possess a DDS/DMD/MD and/or PhD or equivalent with a history of leadership, research funding, and productivity in the broadly defined area of oral health research.
