GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Graduate Business Programs is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and success of students and faculty in the Master of Business Administration (MBA, including graduate certificate programs), and Master of Health Administration (MHA) programs.  The Director also assists with the administrative oversight of the Master of Science in Sport Management (MSSM) program and the Forensic Accounting & Fraud Investigation Certificate. The Director is also responsible for the ongoing evaluation of curriculum and faculty teaching in the graduate business programs. The Director will be located at Mount St. Mary’s University Frederick campus.  This is a twelve month position which reports directly to the Executive Director of the Division of Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies and indirectly to the Dean of the Richard J. Bolte Sr. School of Business.  

MAJOR DUTES:

  1. Participates in recruitment efforts to promote the graduate business programs including face to face (such as corporate visits, open houses/info sessions) as well as online outreach
  2. Responsible for contributing to development and implementation of an annual graduate business marketing plan as well as overseeing the development and production of marketing materials and web pages in conjunction with the Office of Communications
  3. Supports and collaborates with the Assistant Director of Graduate Business Programs: identifying target MBA, graduate certificate, and MHA students and working with students through the recruitment process including prospecting and handling inquiries
  4. Supports and collaborates with the Assistant Director of Graduate Business Programs: managing the admissions process including but not limited to: reviewing applications and transcripts and directing the appropriate admissions procedure (i.e. admit, provisional admit, decline) as well as maintaining enrollment data
  5. Supports Assistant Director of Graduate Business Programs with student advisement
  6. Responsible for achieving enrollment goals for the MBA, graduate certificates, and MHA programs as determined by the Provost, Executive Director for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies, and Dean of the Bolte School.
  7. Attends Bolte School meetings, Frederick team meetings, faculty meetings or other school functions as appropriate
  8. Member of the Graduate Academic Council
  9. Tracks student progress and success by maintaining MBA, graduate certificate, and MHA student files in coordination with the registrar’s office
  10. Recruits, hires and trains new MBA, graduate certificate, and MHA faculty.
  11. Reviews graduate programs syllabi to assure they meet University and Bolte School standards
  12. Oversees student and faculty engagement in the classroom and learning management system settings
  13. Conduct classroom observations for graduate business faculty
  14. Meets with faculty for development and retention activities
  15. Prepares course schedules in coordination with the Executive Director for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies  and the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the Bolte School
  16. Reviews student course evaluations and takes measures when necessary to address comments (both positive and negative) or concerns
  17. Coordinates with the Executive Director for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies on the maintenance of the Adjunct Faculty Handbook  
  18. Maintains active dialogue with the faculty, Dean of the Bolte School, and Executive Director for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies in support of the graduate business programs
  19. Maintains dialogue and relationships with the professional community to both evaluate and support the graduate business programs
  20. Coordinates assessment of graduate business programs for student learning outcomes
  21. Evaluates the graduate business programs for efficiency, effectiveness and growth potential
  22. Assembles graduate business programs data for the University’s Annual Report and the IACBE Annual Report
  23. Pursues ongoing personal professional development activities
  24. Administer inclement weather policy in coordination with Campus Security and the Frederick Campus
  25. Oversees the graduate business programs sections of the Graduate Catalog in coordination with the Executive Director for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies  and the Dean of the Bolte School
  26. Other duties as assigned

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The Director of Graduate Business Programs reports directly to the Executive Director for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies and indirectly to the Dean of the Richard J. Bolte Sr. School of Business.  The Director of Graduate Business Programs directly supervises the Assistant Director of Graduate Business Programs and the Administrative Assistant for Graduate Programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s degree in Business or a related field.  An earned doctorate is preferred. Three years’ experience in a higher educational environment preferred.  Excellent written and oral skills.
