The Office of the Provost provides direction on all facets of the University's academic mission, including education, faculty, research, online learning, global initiatives, admissions, athletics, student life, and arts and culture. The Provost's Center aggregates programs and offices designed to support University operations, including: the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and its reporting departments (Penn Center for Innovation, Environmental Health and Radiation Safety, University Laboratory Animal Resources, and Regulatory Affairs), the Office of the Chaplain, the Graduate Student Center and Family Resource Center, the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics, College Houses and Academic Services, New Student Orientation, the Office of Student Conduct, the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the University of Pennsylvania Press, and all of the University's arts organizations (Penn Museum, Institute of Contemporary Art, Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Arthur Ross Gallery, and University Art Collection). Duties

The Associate Director of Course Operations assists the Director of Operations in the development, production, and implementation of online courses and degree programs across Penn's diverse set of schools in collaboration with faculty, administration, online learning teams at the school level, and platform partners. The Associate Director works closely with faculty and School course teams to ensure that online courses and programs are developed with quality consistent with Penn's brand and established best practices for online learning in the open, alternative credential, and credit-bearing spaces. The Associate Director assists in the management of Penn's MOOC portfolio and in the development of new approaches to future online offerings; ensures online courses and other projects are produced on time and on budget; collects data to help uncover trends and opportunities related to Penn's online efforts; ensures that course teams have the resources and support needed to deliver exceptional courses for open and credit-bearing offerings; and supports processes to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, federal guidelines, and University policies across online programs. This position provides technical support, platform training and ensures course support resources are current.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Successful candidates will have previous project management experience and familiarity with the day-to-day operations of an online higher education degree program and/or MOOC development and management. Candidates should also have a basic familiarity with online instructional design principles and best practices. They must have a high service-oriented nature and the willingness and flexibility to operate in a continually changing environment. Strong presentation skills to internal and external audiences and extreme attention to quality of output and detail required. Strong in-person customer service skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Learning management system authoring proficiency (Canvas, edX, Coursera) strongly preferred. Basic coding, social media marketing, and video/editing experience a plus. Ability to support clients online outside of regular business hours is required at times.
