Assistant Director of Budget

Responsibilities: Assists with the development and preparation of the University's operation budget, budget request, and estimates revenue and expenditures; prepares statistical, revenue/expenditure data and projections for use in budget evaluation; assesses departmental budgets to ensure spending activity is aligned with resources and University priorities; provide technical advice and assistance to departments in the preparation, allocation, and management of their budgets; assists with payroll encumbrances and maintain position control; monitors the use of special funds to ensure metrics are aligned with approved activities; develops or updates internal budgeting procedures; Integrates and executes the operating budget within the University into financial systems including PeopleSoft and SBS; coordinates the planning and review of annual budget legislative documents to determine impact to the University; updates manual and automated files and record keeping systems and ensures accuracy of data; represents the Chief Budget Director and/or University at budgetary meetings conducted by the University or other State agencies; facilitates various budget-training workshops.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or public administration from an accredited four-year college or university required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum five (5) years experience in budgeting/accounting and/or managing fiscal services such as budget development, forecasting, or analysis of financial data required; preferably in a higher education environment. Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, HR, and Student Services or equivalent software package. Must be proficient in MS Excel spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, and Access; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to prepare and present oral and written reports upon request; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative staff, State budget officials and other employees; knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration, budgeting, finance, government accounting, state government, and sound management practices.

Condition of Employment: Weekend or on-call work may be required.

SALARY: $82,000 - $92,000

RANGE: III
