JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant or Associate Professor works with the Program Chair
to design and teach program courses, advise and supervise
masters-degree candidates, actively participate in faculty learning
communities, and conduct scholarly research.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs, revises, and teaches graduate courses, in one of the Touro College GSE graduate programs
- Advises masters-degree candidates, including oversight of culminating e-portfolios
- Builds and maintains clinical partnerships with schools and mentor teachers
- Supervises candidates in field placements/internships/residencies
- Conducts research and publishes scholarly writing
- Serves on Graduate School of Education committees
- Develops research grant proposals
REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Preparation, and Training
- Earned doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction, Special Education, or related field
- Successful classroom teaching experience, K-12, of diverse students
- Successful graduate-level teaching experience, face-to-face and online
- Successful leadership experience
- Experience in course and program design
- Commitment to multicultural urban education
Desired Qualifications:
- Evidence of success as a teacher educator at the college or university level
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborative practice and research
- Demonstrated evidence of establishing and sustaining educational partnerships with schools
- Experience using Blackboard and other technology in educational settings
- Active involvement in professional organizations
Skills
- Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Proficiency in online learning platforms including Blackboard, Adobe Connect, etc.
Travel
- Some travel to Touro College GSE sites New York City including occasional evenings
