Position Summary
The Senior Director of Graduate Enrollment Management and Admissions will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, research and planning for all graduate recruitment and graduate enrollment efforts. Working with senior administrative leadership, department chairs, faculty and administration; the Senior Director will be responsible for developing, coordinating, advancing, and evaluating the graduate recruitment and admission strategies that support the School’s strategic enrollment goals  as well as supporting  retention and student engagement  activities.   The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of successful leadership in recruiting and enrolling diverse, academically talented students. The individual will maintain high visibility, not only within the School but also within the University, several public constituencies, including prospective students and their families, guidance personnel, alumni, and community leaders.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Graduate Academics, implement and monitor enrollment targets to yield quantity and quality of students using strategic enrollment principles. Develop and direct admissions and recruitment strategies including print and web-base marketing and information sessions, college campus and professional associations and accepted student outreach strategies. Develop, manage, and assist the Associate Dean in making recommendations regarding the Graduate Enrollment and Admissions Office and its operational activities; as well as the tactical activities that get employed to meet the strategic goals that have been set by the School. It is critical to maintain close a working relationship and streamlined processes with the departments and Department Chairs.

Manage activities of Faculty, Alumni and current students in recruitment efforts. Evaluate effectiveness of recruitment efforts, existing services, policies and procedures and implement short – and long- term quality improvement strategies. Assist and advise the Associate Dean in all aspects of admissions, including budget administration and planning, and policy development.

Collaborate with the Associate Dean to establish and implement short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures. Analyze graduate admission/enrollment trends (institutional, state, and national levels) to determine and implement effective recruitment strategies. Direct all graduate admissions office and financial aid functions. Develop and supervise full-time administrative, office and technical staff.

Exercise authority or make effective recommendations for hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, and any other change of status.  Provide strategic leadership on the management, collection and analysis of college wide admissions.  Represent NYU Tandon SOE on NYU committees and on special projects identified by the Tandon SOE Dean. Evaluate and implement strategies to maximize yield and selectivity of new students. Serve as a liaison between graduate students and the Academic departments with the School.

Required Education – Bachelor’s Degree
Required Experience - Minimum of 7-10 years.

Experience in enrollment management. This includes shaping financial aid strategy in a competitive environment.

Also, a familiarity with complex database systems and with deriving statistics and prediction models from those will be a plus.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - A history of building institutional and/or organizational relationships.

Strong commitment to personal and professional integrity, growth and development.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, written and oral communication skills are required.

Attention to detail and strong interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and have an entrepreneurial spirit evidenced by creativity in strategy development and comfort with ambiguity as new roles and approaches are clarified.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment

Preferred Education – Masters degree


Preferred Experience - Progressively responsible experience in managing graduate or professional school admissions/enrollment programs or similar operational/recruitment activities is required.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Knowledge of engineering graduate student services/requirements is a plus
