Georgia State University College of Law seeks applications for the position of Director of Academic Success. This is a new full-time 12-month non-tenure track faculty position.

The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and will have a unique opportunity to design and implement a new, comprehensive Academic Success Program at the College of Law. The Academic Success Program will assist J.D. and LL.M. students in the development of the critical skills necessary to succeed in law school, on the bar exam, and in practice.

The Director of Academic Success will be responsible for developing a strategic plan for implementing new services for 2Ls and 3Ls to enhance performance in law school and on the bar exam, and to evaluate and develop as necessary the existing program for 1Ls. In addition, the Director of Academic Success will have primary responsibility for collecting and analyzing academic support and bar preparation data; assisting in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of student data, performance, and outcome measures and assessments consistent with ABA standards; working collaboratively with the Academic Success Program Committee; and staying current on bar preparation and academic support pedagogy, trends, and developments.

Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, admission to a state bar, and a strong academic background; an understanding of developments in legal pedagogy; and excellent writing, analytical, speaking, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience in law school academic support programs or other relevant teaching experience and/or an advanced degree in education, psychology, counseling, or a related field is strongly preferred.  Starting date is flexible.

A résumé, cover letter, and writing sample should be directed to Kendall Kerew, Chair, Academic Success Program Faculty Search Committee, Georgia State University College of Law, P. O. Box 4037, Atlanta, Georgia 30302-4037.  Alternatively, applicants may submit materials electronically to coljobs@gsu.edu, using subject line “Law 2017 ASP Search.” Application deadline is August 4, 2017.  An offer of employment will be conditional on criminal and educational background verification.

Part of a comprehensive research university, the College of Law is a dynamic urban-centered law school located in the heart of Atlanta with approximately 650 full- and part-time law students.  We encourage applications from candidates who would diversify our faculty.  Georgia State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, is an equal opportunity educational institution and an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
