Mount Saint Mary’s University seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking and collaborative Vice President of Administration and Finance who will provide leadership in all areas of financial and business affairs.

 

Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the Cabinet, the new Vice President will work closely with a dedicated staff, a strong senior team and all University constituents in the development and implementation of policies and practices to promote strategic initatives addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with a complex University.

 

Areas of responsiblitiy include the Business Office, Human Resources, Physical Plant, Food Services, and Auxiliary Services. In addition, the Vice President serves as Chair of the Budget Committee, as well as staffs the Board of Trustee Investment, Finance, and Audit Committees, and assists in the staffing of the Facilities and Technology Committees. Other responsibilities include risk management, investments, construction project planning and oversight, and interaction with political entities.

 

Qualifications

An advanced degree in finance, business administration or closely related field and/or a CPA is strongly preferred.

 

Strong analytical, planning and leadership skills, with ten years of progressive senior managment experience and at least five years in a leadership role, with significant business and fiscal responsibilites

 

Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, strategic, capital, master and budget planning; generally accepted accounting principles and best practices

 

Demonstrated ability to establish sound financial policies, procedures and internal controls that encourge and ensure accountability and responsibility

 

Demonstrated leadership qualities of being flexible, optimistic, responsive, agile and appropriately adaptable, as well as skilled in developing staff, fostering teamwork and managing change

 

An innovative strategic thinker and financial anaylist with the ability to synthesize complex issues into a context which can be understood by a wide range of audiences

 

Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively – orally and in writing

 

Strong interpersonal skills needed to build and foster relationships with a diverse academic community, as well as with groups external to the University

 

A proficiency in the application of technology to financial and administrative processes, including data analysis and forecasting to evaluate and improve outcomes and operational efficiency

 

Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity in a multicultural learning community

 

An understanding and appreciation of liberal arts at a private university and the value of a women’s college education
