The Low Residency MFA Program at Oregon State University seeks creative, innovative teacher-practitioners with significant professional accomplishment to serve as Distinguished Visiting Writers on a two-term basis for the 2017-2018 Academic year.
In 2017-2018 academic year, we are hiring a Distinguished Visiting Writer for our Fall 2017 residency and our Winter 2018 mentorship terms. In Fall 2017, the Distinguished Visiting Writer will teach a fiction workshop, teach an arts and activism workshop, and give a public workshop in arts and activism. In Winter 2018, the Distinguished Visiting Writer will mentor 6 students working in fiction long-distance.
Required qualifications include:
- an MFA or other terminal degree in Creative Writing
- at least one book-length publication in fiction
- availability to teach classes on campus November 3-12
- evident commitment to diversity and equity
- experience teaching creative writing
Preferred qualifications include:
- experience teaching at the graduate level
- experience teaching in a low-residency MFA Program
- book-length publications in both fiction and creative nonfiction
