Assistant Professor of Writing for Stage and Screen

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Writing for Stage and Screen faculty position in the Department of English, College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Position Responsibilities: Kennesaw State University’s English Department is accepting applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Writing for Stage and Screen. The position requires teaching courses in playwriting, screenwriting, and writing for TV in the Undergraduate Program in English as well as the MA in Professional Writing program and carries a 3/3 teaching load. Thesis supervision is also required. The successful candidate should be well-versed in the television and film industry, with a strong network of connections within the industry nationally and/or in Georgia. Knowledge of playwriting and connections to its field, as well as teaching experience is ideal. The candidate must be ready to lead writing workshops focused on relevant writing skills.
Auxiliary responsibilities include consulting on course and program development, participating in extra-curricular presentations within the university, and contributing broadly to the vitality of the department and the university community through a variety of service activities. Commitment to excellence in teaching, complemented by strong scholarship and engagement, is expected of all faculty members in KSU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Required Education, qualifications, and experience: Terminal degree in TV, film, and/or playwriting, or its foreign equivalent; Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered; Professional experience in the TV and film industry.
The Department of English at Kennesaw State University offers a B.A. in English; a B.S. in English Education; minors in Film Studies, Professional Writing, and Language and Literary Studies; an M.A. in Professional Writing; and M.A., specialist, and doctoral degrees in Secondary English Education. The department is also home to the Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project and the Georgia Writers Association. Faculty in the department teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
