The University of Texas at Tyler seeks an energetic and innovative individual to lead the newly formed Office of Research and Scholarship, directly reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Office of Research and Scholarship will support the advancement of an ecosystem of research, scholarship and creative activities, and aims at advancing student-centered scholarship by leveraging resources through teaching, research, service and community engagement to foster student learning, academic discovery and regional impact.

 

Responsibilities: Advance the ecosystem of research, scholarship and creative activities through faculty development, internal grant programs, and external partnerships. Work closely with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to nurture a faculty learning community on research and scholarship with focus on both undergraduate and graduate research. Direct and support the University's Sponsored Programs and Research Integrity. Work with academic deans to guide efforts to obtain external funding from federal, state, local government and the private sector to support research, scholarship, creative works, curriculum development, and outreach activities of the faculty. Build relationships with internal and external constituencies to expand Sponsored Programs and serve the University community and the region. Oversee pre- and post-award services as well as fiscal management and compliance and research integrity for Sponsored Programs. Identify potential sources of external funding, advise and train faculty regarding best practices for proposal development. Review proposals for compliance with sponsor guidelines and administer the University's Authorization for External Funding process. Assist faculty with application submissions to external sponsors and serve as primary contact with sponsoring agencies. Develop and administer University policies and procedures related to Sponsored Programs. Review and negotiate contracts and agreements related to Sponsored Programs. Maintain University records related to Sponsored Programs. Provide reports as required to internal and external constituencies.

 

Qualifications: PhD degree, a minimum of five years of experience in a higher education setting, a strong record of research and scholarship, and knowledge of regulations governing federally Sponsored Programs and Research Integrity.
