The Coordinator for Academic Support Services will provide academic support to medical students and residents in training at the UNLV School of Medicine and the associated residency training programs. This position will provide expertise in the evaluation of students and residents requesting academic assistance in addition to students and residents experiencing academic difficulties as measured on course examinations, in-training examinations, licensing examinations and clinical performance evaluations. This position will have experience and expertise in evaluation and providing learning assistance, performance improvement as well as study skills and time management programming for medical students and residents in training.

 

The major responsibilities for this position are to:

  •  Develop and implement required workshops for students in the areas of time management, effective study strategies, examination preparation, and performance.

  • Establish and staff the Learning Resource Center for medical students.
  •  
  • Assist in the development of individual performance improvement programs for residents experiencing academic and /or clinical difficulty.
  •  
  • Provide ongoing supervision and monitoring of compliance for residents identified as needing assistance.
  •  
  • Coordinate and oversee the learning resources budget, including tracking of appropriate student fee account expenditures and reporting; annual planning for learning resource needs and program costs; recommendation of medical student policy and processes relating to academic progress monitoring and remediation support services and tracking.

  • Serve as a member of the Student Assessment Team meeting bi-weekly to address issues of concern for every student experiencing academic or clinical difficulty in the School of Medicine.
  •  
  • Actively monitor medical student academic progress, including regular reports for the Senior Associate Dean and directors; and identified faculty leadership and course directors; outcomes tracking and reporting for medical student academic interventions and remediation process; ex-officio member, Student Progress Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Student Services, Education, Finance, Business Administration or related field from a regionally accredited college or university and 6-7 years related professional experience and 2-3 years comparable professional experience. Master's degree preferred. As a finalist, you may be subject to a background check.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
