Niagara University, a private Catholic University, invites applications for the Associate Vice President, Institutional Advancement. The Associate Vice President, Institutional Advancement an externally funded position, is responsible for the coordination and delivery of Niagara University’s comprehensive advancement program including supervising directly major gifts, planned giving, advancement services, alumni engagement and areas of external relations where outcomes are designed to enhance the mission of the institutional advancement sector.
The successful candidate shall hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with seven years' related experience or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with five years' related experience. A valid New York State driver’s license is required that satisfies both University and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle. Must also be able to operate a motor vehicle in Canada.
Desired Qualifications include significant experience in senior level management of advancement activities in higher education or other major not-for-profit institutions; Ability to establish respectful, ethical, high level and enduring relationships with high net worth individuals and others identified as philanthropic prospects and investors in the University’s mission; Strong and demonstrable interpersonal, written, publications and verbal communications skills; Strong analytical skills and experience required for sector planning and outcomes assessment; Knowledge of and expertise in philanthropic giving vehicles, including IRS and other tax regulations, related to effective management of philanthropic solicitations; Ability to work in non-traditional business times, including weekends and evenings, and to travel for extended periods away from the University’s campus to visit potential prospects for philanthropic gifts as well as to maintain stewardship relationships with current donors and investors; Ability to drive a personal or University vehicle for University business as required.
