The division of Human Development and Quantitative Methods at The University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (GSE) seeks nominees and applicants for a lecturer position in the area of school and mental health counseling. The successful applicant would help provide leadership in our school and mental health counseling programs and teach core courses such as counseling theory and interventions, ethics, assessment and diagnosis, and career counseling. He/she would help participate in the management of our practica and internship placements, and contribute to our student recruitment and advising efforts. Competitive candidates for the position must show a strong background in graduate-level teaching and advising and have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in the counseling field; a record of peer-reviewed publication, particularly focused on counseling practice and research, is preferred but not required. Applicants must have earned a doctorate in counselor education, applied psychology, or a related field. Licensure as a professional counselor or psychologist is preferred. Given Penn GSE’s strong emphasis on diversity in its many forms, candidates from traditionally under-represented minority groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

This appointment will be for one academic year and can be renewed twice for a total of three years, contingent upon a satisfactory performance evaluation after each year.  We will begin reviewing applications on May 1, 2017, and will continue to consider new applications until the position is filled. We intend to fill the position prior to the upcoming academic year.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest and general qualification, curriculum vitae, names and contact information of three references, selected publications (2-3) or other relevant manuscripts. Please apply online at: http://www.gse.upenn.edu/faculty_research/positions/apply-hdqm_counseling

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, creed, national or ethnic origin, citizenship status, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
