The University of Maine at Machias together with the President of the University of Maine invites applications for the position of Vice-President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Head of Campus for the University of Maine at Machias. This position is responsible for overseeing and providing leadership in academic affairs and administrative and operational matters on the Machias campus and on behalf of the President. The expected start date for this position is July 1, 2018.

This newly established position is an exciting opportunity to implement and achieve the strategic objectives of the primary partnership between the University of Maine at Machias (UMM) and the University of Maine flagship campus.

The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, campus and community leadership, promotion of a collaborative culture, curriculum development, program assessment, academic policies and standards, academic support services, planning and budgets, campus operations, and UMM representation at all levels. 

The VPAA and Head of Campus will be expected to reside in the geographic area served by UMM.

Supervisory Responsibility

The VPAA and Head of Campus has direct supervisory responsibility for the Registrar, Library Director, Division Chairs, Director of Academic Services and Community Outreach, Director of Public Media and Communication, two administrative assistants, and (on occasion) externally funded, fixed-length staff positions.
