Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admission for Parsons School of Design, the Admission Counselor will represent the Parsons undergraduate programs as well represent The New School undergraduate programs in a full range of recruitment activities, interviews, special events and related tasks on and off campus. To achieve enrollment goals, the successful individual will work closely with faculty, administrators, current and prospective students from Parsons School of Design. This position will assist in all phases of the recruitment/admissions process.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Admission with managing the admissions process for Parsons Undergraduate programs
- Represent Parsons as well as The New School Undergraduate Programs in a full range of recruitment activities and special events, both on- and off-campus
- Interview and counsel students on the undergraduate admission requirements
- Train and manage undergraduate student workers in communication with prospective students and applicants
- Provide basic financial aid and scholarship information to prospective students and families
- Application file review for bachelor’s degree applications
- Conduct information sessions
- Serve as liaison to undergraduate faculty regarding application review, recruitment and outreach activities
- Manage a domestic recruitment territory and develop relationships with key influencers
- Assist with social media, event planning, webinars, web content management, and communications plan
- Duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Admission
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, BFA preferred
- Demonstrated computer knowledge/skills such as MS Office
- Ability to interact well with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Flexibility within an evolving work situation
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel
- Some evenings and weekend hours required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Art background or previous experience working in art/design field
- BANNER Student Information System and/or Hobsons CRM experience is desirable
- One to two years of higher education professional experience
