Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track Lecturer of Spanish faculty position in the Department of Foreign Languages.

Position Responsibilities:
Kennesaw State University invites applications for an Online Lecturer of Spanish, with a focus on proficiency-based instruction of language and culture.

Responsibilities include teaching mainly online lower-division language courses with a 4/5 teaching load for the academic year. The position also requires some program-related service commitments such as organizing co-curricular activities, program recruitment, and limited committee work.

Commitment to excellence in teaching is expected by all faculty members in KSU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The ideal candidate would demonstrate both experience in effective online course development and the integration of current ACTFL standards in their instruction, and have an interest in developing co-curricular activities such as program coordination, faculty workshops and student support.

Required Education, qualifications, and experience:
An earned master’s degree or Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Spanish with a specialization in literature, linguistics, or pedagogy, completed by time of application. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.

Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.

Documented record of experience in teaching undergraduate-level Spanish courses in face-to.face and online environments.

Evidence of teaching and working effectively in a culturally and ethnically diverse community.

With 32 full-time and approximately 40 part-time faculty members, the DFL houses a B.A. degree program in Modem Language and Culture in five languages (Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish) and offers four unique concentrations (Second Language and Culture, Teacher Certification in Foreign Languages, Applied Business, and Cross-Disciplinary Perspectives). In addition to offering Minors in the primary languages of the Modern Language and Culture major, the DFL presents students the opportunity for regular instruction in Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Latin, and Portuguese, as well as instruction in various other languages via the Critical Languages Program. The DFL also offers a non-degree Alternative Teacher Preparation Program leading to certification in Chinese, French, German, Latin, Japanese, and Spanish. Our faculty and students are engaged with the community and beyond, participating in service-learning, internships, and study abroad opportunities and initiatives related to teaching-learning, research, and service. Faculty in the DFL are experts and recognized scholars in their fields of study.
