Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites nominations and
applications for the position of Senior Vice President for Academic
Affairs (SVPAA) and Provost.
Embry-Riddle seeks a dynamic and energetic leader who, working with
Embry-Riddle’s new President, Dr. P. Barry Butler, will help guide
the Institution into another exciting period of innovation and
growth. Embry-Riddle is well respected and offers a highly ranked
and comprehensive suite of academic programs with a focus on
aviation, aerospace, and other STEM-related disciplines. Over the
last decade, the University has experienced significant growth in
size and reputation and intends to continue to increase its
academic rankings and expand its reputation as a comprehensive
research university.
Founded in 1926, Embry-Riddle is the world’s oldest and largest,
fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace.
Today, the University is dedicated to education, outreach and
engagement, and knowledge discovery across a wide range of academic
disciplines – it is a place for the debate of scientific,
technological, and social issues. Embry-Riddle is student-focused

Embry-Riddle is a non-profit, private institution offering more
than 80 associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degree
programs through the College of Arts and Sciences, College of
Aviation, College of Business, College of Engineering, and the
College of Security and Intelligence. The University is organized
into three major campuses. Providing traditional education in a
residential setting are two campuses, in Daytona Beach, Fla. and
Prescott, Ariz. The University’s Worldwide campus provides
instruction to students through top-ranked online learning and in
classrooms at more than 135 locations across the U.S. and the
World.
Embry-Riddle is uniquely poised to accelerate its upward trajectory
in the research environment, providing the support that encourages
innovation and partnerships. The recent development of the new John
Mica Engineering and Aerospace Innovation Complex at the
Embry-Riddle Research Park (located adjacent to the Daytona Beach
campus) is tangible evidence of the University’s commitment to
building an innovation ecosystem to capitalize on its research base
and industry connections and partnerships.
As chief academic officer of the University, the SVPAA and Provost
reports directly to the President and is expected to: collaborate
with faculty and administration to innovate, implement and
coordinate academic programs and initiatives, with a global
presence; foster academic growth and development that cultivates a
diverse faculty, staff and student body; remain responsive to the
changing landscape of higher education to develop and execute
academic policies; develop policies and infrastructure that
actively encourage and grow research with an entrepreneurial
approach; budget and administer academic programs and related
activities, and strategically identify and manage fiscal
priorities. In this capacity, the SVPAA and Provost has a major
responsibility in innovating, communicating and coordinating
academic activities and leading Embry-Riddle in fulfilling its
mission.
The selected individual will have the opportunity to work with the
President and his senior leadership team in shaping an
organizational structure that will best support this vision. The
SVPAA and Provost will have a leadership role in critical areas
like faculty affairs, academic programs, international programs,
student life, information technology, enrollment management, and
institutional effectiveness. The SVPAA and Provost will also assist
the President in managing the day-to-day operations of the
University’s largest campus in Daytona Beach.
