Counseling Psychology and School Psychology Positions Announcement

The College of Education at Lehigh University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions in our APA-accredited programs in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology. If the candidate is applying at the associate level, there is the possibility of tenure at appointment for qualified applicants.

The Counseling Psychology Program is looking for a scientist-practitioner whose scholarly interests fit with our mission of offering a multicultural and global education to graduate students. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the program’s mission in research (within a recognized area of counseling psychology), teaching (in counseling psychology and school counseling programs), and supervision of students in practicum and fieldwork settings. Candidates with the following credentials will be considered: Doctorate in Counseling Psychology (or a closely related specialty) with a scientist-practitioner emphasis; Licensed, or license eligible, as a psychologist in Pennsylvania; Demonstrated or potential for mentoring of masters and doctoral student research; teaching, advising; Interest and background in multicultural issues and social justice, vocational psychology, or school counseling;  Promise of a strong scholarly record and program of research, and potential to successfully secure external funding. The Counseling Psychology Program, housed in the College of Education offers a doctorate in Counseling Psychology as well as masters’ degrees in Counseling and Human Services, School Counseling, and International Counseling. Signature areas of the Counseling Psychology program include multicultural issues and social justice, counseling process/outcomes and supervision, international counseling, school counseling, vocational counseling, and early childhood. The Program faculty have established strong research and service partnerships in the Lehigh Valley, including our Community Voices Clinic. The School Psychology Program is APA-accredited and currently has conditional approval from NASP. The program is structured according to a scientist-practitioner model of training. The program emphasizes problem-solving and data-based decision making within multi-tiered systems of service delivery.  Further, it operates from an ecological approach to supporting children and families, emphasizing cultural contexts and uniquely preparing students for school psychology practice in diverse settings. Successful candidates will demonstrate a primary focus on academic assessment and intervention in their research and teaching accomplishments. A strong history of securing external funding or potential to do so is strongly preferred. Successful candidates are expected to teach graduate-level courses, maintain an active research agenda, mentor specialist level (EdS) and doctoral (PhD) students, and actively contribute to the overall mission of the program. Candidates should hold a Doctorate in School Psychology preferably from an APA-accredited graduate program with a scientist-practitioner emphasis and be certification-eligible as a school psychologist in Pennsylvania. Preferably, the candidate should be eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania.  School psychology program faculty have established strong innovative research, training, and service partnerships in the Lehigh Valley and the Greater Philadelphia area, including pediatric, early intervention, and school settings.
