Full-time, non-tenure track, benefits eligible Lecturer in Art Education.  Position funded through May 2019 with the possibility of renewal.  The Lecturer will teach four undergraduate courses per semester.   Appointment date:  January 1, 2018

Required qualifications:  Ph.D. in Art Education.  Ability to teach a variety of materials and techniques.  Ability to address relevant conceptual, theoretical, and historical issues in art education.  Two years o college teaching experience in art education courses (including teaching assistantships).  Three years experience as a certified art teacher in K-as, community, or museum based settings.  Potential for excellence in teaching.  Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in art education and challenges facing the field of teacher preparation.  Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:  Experience leading, developing and implementing art education programs within museum and/or community based settings.  Experience using integrative teaching methods.  Demonstrated ability to model excellence in teaching, to foster a stimulating classroom environment, and to challenge students in creative ways.  Experience supervising student teaching practicum.  Experience mentoring or working with diverse student populations.  Ability to work within a diverse team of faculty, staff and students.  Strong oral communication.  Effective presentation skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to active involvement with state and/or national art education professional organizations.  Record of an emerging scholarly and/or creative research agenda, such as presentations at conferences, publications, and/or a performance record in art education related field.
