Professor of Latin American Literature and Culture (possible endowed Chair)

The Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications from across all areas of Latin American literature and culture for a faculty position at the rank of Professor to start August 2018. Applicants with exceptional qualifications and experience may be appointed to a named professorship.

We seek a dynamic scholar who will help guide the future of the Department. We are especially interested in candidates whose research challenges canonical conceptions of literature and who have a proven record of graduate student mentorship. This scholar and teacher will join a department that has strengths in a variety of interdisciplinary, comparative approaches to Latin American (including Brazilian) and Latinx Studies, and that also values creative collaboration with our faculty in Peninsular Spanish and Italian. The committee will also take into consideration applicants' intellectual and institutional interest in program building, particularly at the graduate level, as well as leadership in the profession at large.

Candidates should possess native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English, as well as a Ph.D. in Spanish or a related field.
