Responsibilities: Teach 9 credit hours per semester ranging from freshmen composition to upper level undergraduate and graduate rhetoric and composition courses; advise students; conduct research; coordinate the English composition and rhetoric courses; serve on departmental, college, and/or university committees; write proposals for public and private grants; perform other related duties as assigned. The successful applicant gets at least three credit hours of release time per semester to coordinate the freshman composition sequence. This is a full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor position.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from an accredited institution is required. A minimum of three years of college/university teaching experience preferred. Strong background in composition studies, linguistics, and/or writing across the curriculum. Evidence of strong research capability and a strong, peer-reviewed, scholarly publication record in composition studies or a related area; demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in composition and rhetoric; knowledge and experience developing and evaluating undergraduate and graduate courses in rhetoric and composition including developmental writing; demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, university and community service; excellent communication skills; commitment to the mission of the university; digital information technology skills a plus, including Blackboard; bilingualism in modern languages is also a plus

SALARY: $60,000 - $63,000
