Schmid College of Science and Technology (SCST) at Chapman University seeks applicants for the position of Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics, effective Spring 2018.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree in computer science, mathematics, computational science, data science, or software engineering is required. Whereas we welcome applicants from all disciplines in these fields, preference will be given to candidates with a background in theoretical computer science, such as automata/complexity, programming language design, foundations of computation and formal software verification. Applicants for this senior position are expected to have a strong publication record in theoretical computer science, a history of successfully mentoring students at the graduate and undergraduate level, and a desire to engage in university-level service.

 

Responsibilities

Schmid College and the University value personalized faculty collaboration with undergraduate and graduate students. The new faculty member will be expected to advise, mentor, and encourage undergraduate and graduate students with regard to curriculum, research projects, internship opportunities, and career possibilities.   As a Full Professor, significant service, including mentoring junior faculty, is expected. Tenured faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda. The successful candidate will teach 2 courses per semester.  Courses may include Programming Languages (CPSC 354), Compiler Construction (CPSC 402), and Formal Methods in Software Engineering (SE 420).
