SUMMARY
Full-time faculty position, 24 hour credit load per academic year, teaching primarily in the School of Education (SOE) on main campus.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned graduate and undergraduate courses, emphases and experience in teaching and integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related Elementary education courses.
- Supervise student field experience in P-12 schools, including individual students during pedagogical methods courses, practica and student teaching internships.
- Participate in collaborative partnership activities with P-12 schools.
- Assess professional skills and dispositions of teacher candidates.
- Serve as lead faculty for designated courses.
- Design, modify, or revise course content in conjunction with SOE faculty and SAU Math & Science Faculty.
- Serve on SAU and SOE committees, task forces, and teams as requested.
- Participate in Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Council on the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) activities and compliance requirements.
- Participate in Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Content Standards Committees for content compliance requirements and additional relevant meetings as assigned.
- Participate in professional development and scholarly activities.
- A master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required; a doctorate is preferred. Must agree to begin doctoral program within five years of initial appointment, if doctorate not already earned.
- Experience as a certified elementary teacher, with at least five years successful teaching in P-12 schools required; additional experience in P-12 leadership preferred.
- Some experience teaching at the college level preferred.
- Successful implementation of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering (STEM) initiatives and teaching in P-12 schools.
- Demonstrated ability to assess teacher candidate professional skills and dispositions.
- Experience in P-12 curriculum development and leading professional development activities for teachers.
- Experience in research utilizing statistical data and analysis to assist in educational decisions.
- Evidence of a vibrant Christian faith integrated into the applicant’s personal and professional life.
