The Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment. Appointment may be made at the Assistant, Associate or full professor level, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program and a high-quality teaching portfolio. The School offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Glass Engineering Science, and Biomaterials.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. Degree in MSE, or a closely related field, and be committed to excellence in research, teaching, and service.

Outstanding candidates with expertise in the broad fields of mechanical properties of materials and high-temperature materials are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to teach classes in mechanical and thermal properties of materials, metallurgy, and composites at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as lead world-class research in these areas. The candidate will also be expected to manage the mechanical properties user facility that is part of the Center for High-Temperature Characterization. The Center for High-Temperature Characterization was recently established with $>6M in grant funding from New York State and includes five suites of equipment for high temperature characterization: including in situ XRD, thermal analysis, in situ mechanical testing, in situ electrical testing, and electron microscopy.
