The Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson invites applications for a part-time instructor to teach vm378, Basic Cinematography, in Fall 2017. The available section meets once a week on Thursdays 2:00- 5:45pm in our sound stage in the Paramount building main campus.
This course is the beginning cinematography/videography course and introduces basic elements of the aesthetics, technology, and craft of cinematography and videography. Students gain a working knowledge of 16mm and digital video cameras, as well as basic lighting design and equipment, with an emphasis on crew relations and organization. Includes a comprehensive exploration of the work of significant cinematographers.
Fall 2017 classes begin Wednesday, September 6 and the final exam week runs December 13-19.
