Senior Associate Dean for Evaluation, Assessment, and Scholarship of Learning in Health Care

The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine seeks candidates for Senior Associate Dean for Evaluation, Assessment, and Scholarship of Learning in Health Care. The Chief Purpose of this position is support of the mission of the School of Medicine through the work of the Office of Evaluation, Assessment, and Scholarship of Learning in Health Care. The mission of the Office of Evaluation, Assessment, and Scholarship of Learning in Health Care is to support work that advances and improves lifelong learning and health care. The position (80%) has key responsibilities for leadership, development, collaboration with faculty in these areas. The position (20%) will provide clinical care in their medical field.

Qualifications: Candidates for this position must hold the rank of professor and have graduated from an accredited medical school. An advanced degree in medical education required with focus on assessment preferred. The candidate must have experience with education of medical students, residents and practicing clinicians. Faculty member should have a research program with a record of publications and external funding. Experience managing budgets and providing supervision for multiple employees preferred. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of excellent interpersonal and communications skills with students, residents, and faculty and must be qualified to teach as graduate faculty in the Medical Education Certificate Program. The successful candidate must have an ability to work with administrative leadership of the School and University and be able to represent the interests of all constituencies on an equitable basis. The candidate must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
