The Williams-Mystic Program in Mystic, CT is pleased to announce the position of Deputy Director of the Williams-Mystic Maritime Studies Program. This is a full-time, year-round regular appointment. The Williams-Mystic Maritime Studies Program, founded in 1977 is the only undergraduate program that offers interdisciplinary semester-long courses in maritime history, literature, policy, and science. The Deputy Director in close partnership with the Executive Director will help chart the Williams-Mystic program future development striving for a high quality study away experience. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from daily student interaction and support between the Mystic Seaport and Williams-Mystic, written products, field seminar logistics management to administration, and human capital.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Foster partnership with Mystic Seaport to manage administrative requests and maintenance
  • Serve as a liaison with Williams and Mystic Seaport campus centers and partners
  • Maintain ongoing, active professional relationships with students, parents and donors locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Assist in the admission and enrollment serving as a member of the decision team
  • Act as a house parent for all houses serving closely with the Assistant Director of Student Life
  • Act as the Title IX designee during the semester, as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in higher education is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate internally and externally, and cultivate strong relationships with faculty, donors and colleagues
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, analyst, and document specific administrative and management functions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
