Lecturer Position in Biology

The Department of Biology at the University of Rochester invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position.  Primary responsibilities are:

1)    Teaching Principles of Human Physiology (BIO 204) and the associated Human Physiology Lab (BIO 204P) in the fall; enrollments are ~120 and ~50, respectively. These courses focus on normal function in a variety of systems in humans with some comparison to other mammals and are taken by many pre-med students.

2)    Teaching Principles of Human Anatomy w/Lab in the spring (BIO 217; enrollment ~70). 

3)    Supervising the TA-led recitation sections of BIO 204 and BIO 217. 

4)    Conducting the optional upper-level writing courses for BIO 204 and BIO 217 (enrollment ~8).

5)    Participating in undergraduate advising.

A PhD in the appropriate area and demonstrated excellence in teaching is required. This full-time, nine-month position includes benefits. Optional summer teaching for additional compensation is possible. The position begins August 2017 and may be renewed annually pending satisfactory performance. Candidates may be eligible for the newly established instructional faculty track with multi-year appointments and the possibility of promotion to higher ranks.
