Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for the MBA Program of the Yale School of Management (Yale SOM), this position has overall responsibility for guiding a high-profile organization that supports the career education and job search activity of over 600 MBA and 60 + Master of Advanced Management students, ~130 Executive MBA students and a smaller number of MMS students. Working with a strong team of professional and support staff, sets strategic direction for the Career Development Office (CDO) and implements comprehensive and innovative career management and recruitment activities for students and for organizations that hire across SOM degree programs, and oversees career service delivery to the alumni population. The Assistant Dean is a critical and strategic resource in creating, developing and strengthening school-wide external relationships with the broad array of enterprises with which Yale SOM interacts on multiple dimensions.

The successful candidate will anticipate and capitalize on trends and emerging developments in the global marketplace, design and initiate a business development strategy to ensure a wide variety of exceptional opportunities for Yale SOM students, and leverage the Global Network for Advanced Management to forge institutional relationships across the global career space and generate business development opportunities to strengthen employment outcomes.  You will set the direction and oversee the implementation of technology to continue buildout of innovative career education and other initiatives. Must be highly effective in communicating with all constituents – students, employers, faculty and staff regarding all facets of CDO activity. Responsible for managing and developing a team of professional and support staff. Set CDO policies, procedures and guidelines, supervise the collection and reporting of data, and manage department budget.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and seven years of related experience, or equivalent. Proven track record of strategic thinking, marketing/relationship-building expertise, fiscal management and effective outreach to diverse constituencies, proven success at multi-tasking and management of competing demands, outstanding communication and presentation skills, ability to listen to and work well with internal and external stakeholders, strong record of independent judgment and decision-making, familiarity with advanced IT applications to facilitate seamless information exchanges with stakeholders, and developmental management skills with respect to development of team. Must have curiosity about the future of work, technology, and employment trends, and can synthesize information about these into initiatives that will benefit students and Yale SOM. May require some travel 

Preferred: MBA or other appropriate professional degree and 6-10 years’ creative leadership experience in the career services and recruitment industry, preferably in both academic and corporate environments, global orientation; experience working across countries and regions, and fluency in more than one language. http://som.yale.edu/
