Position Summary:
The Department of Food Science and Nutrition at California State University, Fresno seeks applicants for a tenure-track, academic year position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Food and Nutritional Sciences. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students, conduct scholarly and applied research, and engage in service-related activities. Primary teaching responsibilities and research interests will be in the area of culinary science, product development, food preparation and presentation, food service management, food safety and sanitation, or experimental foods.

The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (JCAST) is one of eight colleges / schools at Fresno State. The Department of Food Science and Nutrition is one of seven departments in JCAST. Students majoring within the department are prepared for a wide range of professions in the nutrition field and food industry. Located within the center of the world's most productive food growing and processing region, the department is ideally situated to provide students with both a strong academic and practical experience. The Department offers a degree in Food and Nutritional Sciences with options in: Culinology®/Culinary Science, Dietetics and Food Administration, Food Science, and a Dietetic Internship post graduate certification.

Required Education:
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Food Service Management, Food Science, Hospitality Management, Nutrition, Dietetics, or closely-related disciplines is required. However, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For continued employment in the tenure-track position the doctorate must be completed by 8/1/2018.

Required Experience:
1) Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level; 2) Evidence of the ability to utilize technology in instruction, and; 3) Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Successful teaching experience at the graduate level; 2) Evidence of scholarly and applied research; 3) Evidence of publications in scholarly journals; 4) Previous engagement in service-related activities, and; 5) Experience or certifications in applied Culinary Science, a Food Service Management, Nutrition, or Dietetics.
