POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Postdoctoral Position in Statistical Genomics/Genetic Epidemiology/Precision Medicine

 

We have an immediate opening for a postdoctoral position in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health-Bloomington at Indiana University, Bloomington.

 

The successful candidate will help develop and implement statistical/computational methods for problems arising from health related studies. Possible research projects include, but are not limited to, developing and applying statistical and computational methods for analysis of high-throughput genetic/genomic data, integrative analysis of omics data, genome-wide epigenetic association studies, risk prediction in precision medicine, and developing the necessary software packages. Research areas can be tailored to suit the candidate's research interest and expertise. The candidate will also have opportunities to work on projects related to genome-wide association studies and candidate gene studies for common complex human diseases such as coronary artery disease, obesity, dental caries, orofacial clefts, cancer, and stroke.

 

The candidate should hold a doctoral degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics or physics, with interest in genetics/genomics. Candidates with doctoral degrees in genetics or related fields with strong computational and statistical expertise are also encouraged to apply.

 

The successful candidate should also demonstrate ability in computer programming, and ability of independent thinking and possession of excellent communication and writing skills.

Expected start date will be August 14, 2017. This is a 12-month position with an excellent fringe benefit package and competitive salaries commensurate with experience. Appointments will be for two years and may be extended.
