Secondary Education Temporary Faculty Position

The Department of Secondary Education at Kutztown University invites applications for a temporary, one-year, full-time faculty position starting August 2017.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in existing programs (based on availability and registration). Potential courses include Foundations of American Education, Materials and Assessments for ESL Populations, Educational Psychology and Adolescent Development, and Student Teacher Supervision.  In addition, college and department service and related duties are expected as necessary for the effective operation of programs and other initiatives.  The successful candidate will have the ability and interest to collaborate and foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators on campus and partner educators in secondary schools and related settings.

Required: ABD status in a doctoral program in teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or a related discipline that has been used to study K-12 education; three or more years of classroom teaching experience in a US secondary (7-12) public school setting; an understanding and appreciation of contemporary issues related to public education and teacher preparation; and an emerging record of research, with an interest in issues of social justice and the teaching of diverse populations with culturally relevant teaching strategies.  Preferred qualifications: An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or a related discipline that has been used to study K-12 education; knowledge of Pennsylvania educational policies and procedures, including instructional standards and teacher preparation requirements; and related work experience in a higher education setting including experience teaching fully online and face-to-face courses.
