DEAN, ERIK JONSSON SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE
The University of Texas at Dallas seeks an exceptional leader to
serve as its next Dean of the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering
and Computer Science.
Reporting to, and working with, the Provost, and in coordination
with the Deans from other Schools, the Dean will have
responsibility for the strategic, programmatic, financial,
fundraising, and management operations that support the mission and
vision of the Jonsson School. The Dean will inspire faculty and
students with a sense of pride and purpose, serve as an innovative
leader to grow and build high quality programs, and provide a
dedicated and established commitment to undergraduate and graduate
education. The Dean will define and execute a strategic vision by
articulating the distinctive needs and opportunities of the School
while supporting its collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit. Serving
in an exciting period of expansion, the Dean will advocate
internally and externally for resources to support a growing
research agenda, faculty, and student population. As the School’s
public voice, the Dean will develop industry and professional
partnerships while identifying opportunities in emerging areas of
engineering for new programs and interdisciplinary
initiatives.
About the Jonsson School: When the School was
founded in 1986, it was the first public engineering school
established in Texas since 1950. The School was named for the late
Erik Jonsson, former mayor of Dallas and co-founder of Texas
Instruments and UT Dallas. The Jonsson School has nearly 250
faculty, 4,474 undergraduate and 2,408 graduate students, and 204
staff. Six undergraduate degrees, 17 graduate degrees, and five
graduate and executive education certificates are offered by the
Jonsson School. The School has six departments: Bioengineering;
Computer Science; Electrical and Computer Engineering; Materials
Science and Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Systems
Engineering. There is a strong collaborative spirit between the
departments, evidenced by numerous joint faculty appointments and a
congenial, interactive, and interdisciplinary research and teaching
focus. For more information about the Jonsson School, please visit
