Job Description:

Under supervision of the Business Analyst Sr., the Business analyst:

Reviews, analyzes, implements, and evaluates business systems and stakeholder needs for Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Serves as the liaison between the Schools’ organizations and the technology teams. Designs solutions and develops requirements specifications, creates and executes test plans, and works with technical staff to build and implement technology solutions.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Serves as the DocuWare Document Management System Administrator, performing routine tasks and configuration as needed for Administrative and Academic units. Facilitates DocuWare end-user adoption.
  • Works with other BA team members to understand and align on business workflow processes for DocuWare initiatives.
  • Converts use case scenarios and creates technical specification documentation.
  • Performs DocuWare File Cabinet configuration based on technical specification documentation.
  • Performs routine testing on new DocuWare File Cabinet configurations and enhancements.
  • Works on enhancements requests and makes changes/modifications to existing DocuWare File Cabinet configurations.
  • Collaborates with business units, server team, and DocuWare support to troubleshoot DocuWare issues and identify the root cause.
  • Provides training and support to Administrative and Academic units for new DocuWare projects and initiatives.
  • Meets and consults with a wide variety of internal customers to understand current processes and challenges. Works with clients to define project scope and business requirements.
  • Facilitates requirements elicitation using interviews, requirements meetings, surveys, document analysis, site visits, use case and workflow analysis.
  • Identifies and documents workflow processes and develops Use Case scenarios using standard flowcharting tools (e.g. MS Visio) and methods, while following best practices.  
  • Translates business requirements into functional requirements and creates business requirement documentation (BRD).
  • Serves as liaison between web developers and Academic and Student Affairs (ASA), Academic Leads/Business Operation Managers, facilitating communication and decision making.
  • Works with key players within Administrative and Academic units to gain a general understanding of needs and challenges. Identifies existing or emerging "common issues or trends" between units that might otherwise not be easily identifiable.
  • Provides support and problem resolution for Administrative and Academic units with respect to implemented processes and solutions.
  • Works with Technical Staff to develop testing scenarios for User Acceptance Testing for implemented processes and solutions.
  • Ensures security of implemented business processes and workflows within ISO security standards.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of experience in procedural, management or systems analysis work; OR, Six (6) years of experience in procedural, management, or systems analysis work; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/ or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with an Enterprise Content Management System (ECM) such as DocuWare or an equivalent system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and best practices of business analysis according to the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
  • Experience in analyzing internal and/or external solutions that are technically feasible within current system constraints.
  • Experience in clearly explaining concrete processes and abstract concepts both verbally and in writing to and between diverse audiences with varying understanding and/or knowledge of parameters, requirements and/or constraints involved.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to identify business needs and worked with technical teams to drive solution implementation.
  • Experience in requirements elicitation, documenting high-level business requirements and translating them to functional requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices and methods of workflow/process flow diagramming and documentation.
  • Experience working with workflow and requirement documentation tools such as MS Visio, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience in facilitating end-user training for new business processes and system implementations.
  • Experience working within a software/system development environment is desired, particularly experience acting as a liaison between management, developers, and system users.
