MOUNT ST. MARY’S UNIVERSITY - PROVOST

The Mount St. Mary’s University (MSMU) community seeks a Provost to assist in leading the institution to its next level of success through collaborative leadership, a strong commitment to academic excellence, and student-centered values. MSMU’s next Provost will be the principal champion for innovative vision and strategic direction for the University’s academic programs.

MSMU is a comprehensive, coeducational, Catholic institution dedicated to liberal learning in the pursuit of truth. The second oldest Catholic university in the country, MSMU describes its self as “Catholic in a contemporary way” and welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds. Located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, the University serves more than 2,000 diverse undergraduate and graduate students at its two campuses.

MSMU’s educational identity and mission combine the institution’s core curriculum, rigorous liberal arts classes with a focus on building values-based leadership, and a major of the undergraduate student’s choosing. Additionally, MSMU offers mission-driven graduate programs that enable ethical leadership in varied fields. MSMU, particularly its 120 dedicated full-time faculty members, fosters an intimate and student-centered community. MSMU prides itself on a student to teacher ratio of 13:1 and that 52% of classes have fewer than 20 students.

MSMU’s academic programs are housed within the College of Liberal Arts, the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business, the School of Natural Science and Mathematics and the Division of Education. MSMU offers more than 30 undergraduate majors and programs of study, eight graduate degree programs, and several degree completion programs for working adults. MSMU also offers various graduate certificate programs. For students balancing work, family and education, adult undergraduate and graduate degree programs – located at the Frederick Campus – are offered in varied formats.
