Located in Chapel Hill, NC, UNC General Administration (UNC System Office) invites applications for the position of Vice President for Digital Learning.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Digital Learning will be responsible for developing and implementing a digital learning action plan, and as a first step use the Presidential Task Force on Online Education report and recommendations as a roadmap, which includes priorities, engagement strategies, metrics, timelines, and budget forecasts that support all constituents of the UNC system. The Vice President will work with and lead a new UNC System advisory council for online education and digital learning; develop a data informed approach to action planning and process to track (with metrics); and evaluate the effectiveness, quality and outcomes of online learning.

This role will involve conducting research, including market analyses, to determine needs in online education that are most relevant to current and future industry demands and economic development; and gathering meaningful data, using mixed methods and modalities, from and about students, faculty, and staff to assess the relevance of current and future online education endeavors.

The Vice President will identify and facilitate creation of unique programs tailored to fit regional economic needs and entrepreneurial opportunities; support the development of degree programs with contemporary delivery methods such as micro- and nano-credential and competency based systems, in alignment with current and future workforce demand; and ensure and support the development of effective advertising and other promotional plans for online learning initiatives. Responsibilities also include overseeing development and assessment of social media marketing strategies to promote online learning to targeted audiences using tools such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and others; and guiding the enhancement of efficacious faculty development efforts to support and improve online teaching, emphasizing the application of instructional technology resources to enrich academic content and pedagogy. Special focus may include personalized or adaptive learning and identifying key strategic partnerships and opportunities with multiple sectors to leverage resources and evaluate processes by engaging with multi-sector constituents to improve the quality and output of online learning and drive new revenue streams.
