Chairperson, Department of Marketing - College of Business

 General Summary

Illinois State University is seeking nominations and applications for the position of Chairperson of the Department of Marketing. The anticipated start date for the 12-month appointment is July 1, 2018.  The department Chairperson is the spokesperson for a dynamic and diverse faculty, works with different advisory boards of business professionals, recruits students and faculty, and manages department resources including fundraising. The department Chairperson also supervises the Director of the Professional Sales Institute, a nationally recognized sales program housed in the Department of Marketing. The department currently includes 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty, and the Chairperson supports a culture that values shared governance, inclusion, and balance between effective instruction and scholarly research.  The Department of Marketing is one of four departments (along with Accounting; Finance, Insurance and Law; and Management and Quantitative Methods) in the College of Business. AACSB International accredits the institution in both Accounting and Business. In 2016-2017, the college enrolled approximately 3,900 undergraduates and 150 master degree students. The department offers a Marketing major with four different concentrations (Integrative Marketing Communications, Professional Sales, Advanced Marketing Analytics, and General Marketing) to more than 800 undergraduate students. In addition, the department offers undergraduate and master-level degrees in Business Education and a minor in Business Analytics that draws students from the entire University. Graduate-level marketing courses are also offered as part of the M.B.A. degree program.

Required Qualifications  

(1) An earned doctorate in Marketing or a closely-related discipline from an AACSB accredited university prior to the start date of the appointment, with significant intellectual contributions in Marketing or related fields (2) Eligibility for tenure and appointment at the associate professor rank or higher (3) State of Illinois law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for the position.
