North Carolina A&T State University and the Division of Student Affairs invite applications for the position of Executive Director of Student Activities.

The Executive Director of Student Activities supervises and provides direction for the Office of Student Activities and Campus Involvement, including the Student Government Association, Student Senate, Class Officers, Royal Court, Student University Activities Board, Greek Life, Student Organizations, Campus Programming and Major Campus Events (Homecoming, Aggie Fest, etc.) manages a variety of related student events and programs throughout the year. The Director oversees and assists in developing activities, events and programs designed for the social and cultural development of students. The nature of these responsibilities require the Director to develop and maintain positive working relationships with faculty and staff across the college to foster collaboration with effective results in support of student learning, achievement and student success. The Director of Student Activities and Campus Involvement exercises judgment in the facilitation and administration of student support and student engagement activities. Knowledge and proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers utilizing various software applications (i.e., work processing, spreadsheet and database management software) including the Internet, as well as social media. 

The Student Activities unit operates within the Division of Student Affairs and is a key component of the University’s overall retention and graduation strategy. The Office of Student Activities manages the majority of all major student events each year, as well as areas of student leadership & governance and campus programs. The area of Student Activities directs and oversees the development and organization of the university’s primary extra-curricular programs. These areas include Student Government, Campus Programs, the Greek Life system and Club & Organizations, as well as university wide events such as Homecoming & Aggie Fest. 

Minimum Requirements             

Master degree in Student Affairs, Education, or related field; Experience working with student organizations and/or Greek Organizations; Must possess excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and be able to work in a student-focused environment; three years of relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in program development, especially leadership development; experience working with diverse populations; problem solving and mediation skills between students, administration, and community required. Ability to develop and deliver presentations; Budget experience

 

Preferred

Terminal degree in Student Affairs, Education or other relevant discipline required; Seven to ten years of full-time work experience; Possess student development and learning theory foundation knowledge. Evaluation and assessment experience. 

Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with fraternity and sorority governing councils, executive boards and chapters, as well as alumni volunteers/advisors; Demonstrated knowledge of legal issues in higher education and risk management/harm reduction practices
