Job Summary:
The Senior Director of Development will secure private and voluntary support for UT Arlington from alumni and friends for the College of Business. Identify, evaluate and cultivate potential major gift donors and prepare solicitations for those individuals; solicit them with volunteer leadership assistance if necessary; ensure proper recognition and stewardship is given to those who donate. Collaborate with Development and Alumni Relations staff to solicit planned, corporate, and foundation gifts when appropriate. Management of 100 to 150 donors and prospective donors with emphasis on major gifts of 6 and 7 figures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to the Assistant Vice President for Development and University Initiatives and work closely with the Dean for the College of Business. Make personal contact, including in-person visits, with a portfolio of individuals and, when appropriate, corporate representatives and foundation officers to build relationships and secure major gifts for the College of Business.
- Work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Development and University Initiatives, the Dean, department chairs, faculty, administration, and other development professionals to determine funding priorities and potential funding sources for academic programs, capital projects, and endowment needs. Work closely with the Prospect Coordination and Research team to identify new prospects and perform regular portfolio maintenance.
- Lead or participate in team based University initiatives that advance the mission and strategic vision of UT Arlington.
- Serve as an integral member of the College of Business External Affairs team and work closely with the Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, Assistant to the Dean for External Relations, and Assistant to the Dean for Corporate Relations.
- Assist in the oversight of the College of Business Advisory Council and participate in volunteer leadership activities that engage and cultivate relationships.
- Management responsibilities include supervision of one (1) development coordinator.
- Other functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 7 to 10 years of experience in development/fundraising or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven professional and management skills acquired through development/external affairs or related experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong work ethic. Goal-oriented. Excellent judgment. Planning and organization skills. Ability to motivate people. Experience in higher education. Knowledge of current economic and business affairs. Well versed in the language of budgeting and accounting. Adequate computer skills (MS Office). Supervisory experience. A master's degree in Business Administration is preferred.
