The Public Policy Studies major in the College of the University of Chicago is accepting applications for a part-time, three-year, renewable Lectureship with a focus in environmental policy and politics, starting on September 1, 2017. The annual salary is $30,000, and the position is benefits-eligible. The Lecturer will teach a total of three courses per academic year, developed in consultation with the Director of Public Policy Studies. In addition to the duties associated with teaching three courses the Lecturer will be expected to serve as adviser to students as they produce senior theses, and to write letters of reference for students with whose work they are familiar; develop courses; guide undergraduate research; coach students on written and oral communication, both in the classroom and through one-on-one mentorship; and identify co-curricular opportunities that will contribute to the development of the students in the program. Attendance at the program’s occasional on-campus gatherings and staff meetings is required.

The successful candidate will have a PhD (preferred) or advanced degree in social or policy sciences, experience in environmental policy and politics, and a record of teaching at the college level. Candidates whose teaching and professional backgrounds, including practitioner experience, would contribute to the Public Policy Studies major’s resources in applied policy work are preferred.
