Primary Accountabilities
The Department of Sports Administration (DSA) in the College of Business (COB) at Ohio University is seeking up to two emerging or global leaders in sport business education to join the dynamic DSA faculty. Candidates must have sport industry experience, hold a terminal degree as recognized by AACSB, and be qualified to join our faculty at either the assistant or associate level. The expected start date is August of 2018.

The DSA is one of six departments in the College of Business and currently includes 13 full-time faculty members. We offer one undergraduate and three graduate programs. Currently, the DSA has approximately 500 undergraduate majors in Sport Management and more than 300 graduate students in its three graduate programs, the Master of Sports Administration (MSA), the Professional Master of Sports Administration (PMSA), and the Master in Athletic Administration (MAA). The COB and DSA also have an innovative and active presence in the executive education and international education spaces.

The MSA program received global recognition as Sport Business International ranked it the #1 Post-Graduate Sports Program in the World in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016. The Professional MSA was also ranked the #1 Post-Graduate Online Sports Program in the World in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Ohio University's Sports Administration just finished celebrating its' 50th Anniversary as a global leader in Sport Business education. Faculty have close connections with many of the more than 4,000 alumni, most of whom work in the sport industry. The alumni base provides crucial support to the academic programs by hosting interns, serving as mentors, providing consulting and research projects, serving as guest lecturers, and providing financial support.

The AECOM Center for Sports Administration, housed in the DSA, brings together students, alumni, and sport industry executives, and serves as a resource to address the issues facing the sport industry. The Center actively supports faculty research and teaching activities. It is also plays a vital role in supporting students with learning
opportunities and real world experiences.

Ideal candidates will have an interest in teaching in face-to-face and online formats, a record of teaching excellence, an active research agenda, and expertise in sport analytics and/or social and digital marketing. However, candidates with an interest in teaching in other content areas will also be given full consideration. Candidates who have 4 years of industry work experience and hold an academic degree that meets the AACSB standards for academic qualification as published by the AACSB (see http://www.aacsb.edu/accreditation/business/standards/participants/standard10.asp) will receive special consideration. Pending budgetary approval, the start date is August 2018.

These are 9-month positions with a teaching load of five semester courses. Opportunities to teach in the summer, international programs, and executive education exist. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate's education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree in Business, Sports Business, or a related discipline by the start date that meets the AACSB standards for academic qualification as published by the AACSB (see http://www.aacsb.edu/accreditation/business/standards/participants/standard10.asp) and have sport industry experience.
