 East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Health Studies department beginning January 2018.

  Position typically filled at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. East Stroudsburg University is part of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).  The East Stroudsburg University Department of Health Studies offers CEPH accredited undergraduate programs in Public Health (with two tracks in Health Services Administration and Community Health Education), SHAPE-CAEP accredited (formerly AAHE-NCATE) program in School Health Education, a CEPH accredited MPH in Community Health Education, and a M.S. in Health Education.

 Required Qualifications: Completed doctoral degree in Public Health, with a graduate degree from a CEPH accredited program (MPH, PhD/DrPH).  Completion of the doctoral degree required by January 5, 2018.  Candidates should be able to demonstrate productive research activity, such as presenting research at national conferences, publishing scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals and securing external grant funding.  Finalists must successfully complete an on-campus interview, which might include but is not limited to the following:  teaching demonstration, a presentation of research to faculty and graduate students and an interview with Department of Health Studies faculty.

 Preferred Qualifications:  Preference will be given to the candidate who has demonstrated teaching experience at the graduate and undergraduate level in Public Health courses, Health Administration, statistics and health policy.  Preference will be given to those candidates who have an understanding of CEPH accreditation processes and the ability to teach courses in an online format. 

 Responsibilities:  The successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities in the department’s Public Health programs at undergraduate and graduate levels.  The standard workload for faculty is 12 credit hours per semester. Teaching could include distance learning and/or off campus teaching and a variety of public health courses including statistics and health policy.  Candidates will also be expected to provide leadership in chairing/mentoring student research in the MPH and MS graduate programs.  In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be expected to engage in research, student advising and to provide service to the department, university and the community.
