education. The nursing program is fully accredited by the
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
POSITION SUMMARY
Washington Adventist University seeks applicants for a seasoned
administrator to provide overall leadership and direction to the
Department of Nursing beginning on July 1, 2018. The
department is looking for a quality team-oriented person who will
positively impact our program.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates departmental staff meetings.
- Administers the curricula and the selection of faculty for the programs.
- Arranges schedules of classes and assigns teaching staff to conduct classes.
- Provides leadership to the department faculty.
- Serves as liaison with the Maryland Board of Nursing, accrediting bodies and other external entities to maintain relationships and to ensure the programs are in compliance with regulations and requirements.
- Supports and promotes the University’s mission, vision, and values.
- Supports a spirit of excellence in service.
- Attends and contributes to assigned committee duties.
- Attends convocations and other Department of Nursing and WAU required and extra-curricular events.
- Promotes and nurtures spirituality in students, coworkers, and the University at large.
- Prepares lists of budgetary and other needs and administers department budget.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Nursing required.
- Current unencumbered registered nurse license from MD Board of Nursing required
- Progressive experience (3-5 years) in nursing academic education leadership required.
- Experience in academic leadership.
- Experience in teaching at the post-secondary level.
- Experience mentoring faculty preferred.
- Experience with higher education accreditation (state and regional), nursing accreditation and state board of nursing processes required.
- Extensive experience in curriculum development, revision and evaluation required.
- Experience in student learning outcome assessments required
- Experience in nursing research required.
- Enjoys contact with students and providing academic advisement.
- Interest in being part of a collegial team.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated initiative and energy.
- CPR Certification
