Position Summary: Provide effective leadership and direction for each unit in Economic and Workforce Development, the Volkswagen Academy; Workforce Development and Continuing Education, and the Small Business Development Center. Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and Executive Staff; assist the President on projects related to economic development requiring leadership at the vice-presidential level; assist the President in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, the Manufacturing Association, WIOA, the Southeast Economic Development District, and other economic development partners. The position has supervisory responsibilities for exempt and non-exempt staff.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities: -Establish
and achieve goals, objectives, and outcomes for all areas of;
coordinate short and long-range planning efforts; ensure compliance
with federal, state, and local regulations; policies, and reporting
requirements.
-Work with the President to maximize workforce training
opportunities for area firms including both credit and non-credit
enrollment in the College.
-Supervise activities and evaluate performances of personnel within
the unit; Executive Director of Continuing Education &
Workforce Development, Director of the Small Business Development
Center, the Manager of Instruction and Training and the Manager of
Operations at the Volkswagen Academy.
-Develop and administer an annual budget for component areas in
concert with the management personnel; oversee expenditures; review
and authorize budget revisions; evaluate fiscal and operational
resources of the unit and ensure optimal use of resources.
-Participate in the general governance of the college through
membership on the President’s Cabinet, the Executive Staff, and
other governing bodies; promote and practice collegial
relationships; identify, recommend, and implement initiatives for
student recruitment and retention as appropriate.
-Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: -Education and training: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of executive leadership in economic and community development and/or a major corporation
