Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development and working collaboratively with the entire Parsons Development team as well as with other university faculty and staff, the Assistant Director is a key member of Parsons’ frontline fundraising effort. The Assistant Director is responsible for engaging, qualifying, and soliciting prospects who have the capacity to give at the leadership and major gift levels. The Assistant Director will play a key role in securing gifts from parents, alumni, and friends. She will work closely with Annual Giving, Alumni Engagement, Stewardship, Research, and Special Events.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President of Development on fundraising and major gifts strategy.
  • Manage a prospect portfolio of 300+ alumni, parents, and friends.
  • Seek leadership gifts ($1,000+) and major gifts ($25,000+) through in-person solicitation.
  • Meet with 100 – 150 prospects annually to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
  • Identify prospects for leadership opportunities including the Board of Trustees, Board of Governors, and Alumni Board.
  • Conceptualize and implement cultivation and fundraising events for donors and prospects.
  • Work with academic partners to engage high-level donors in the mission of Parsons and the university and discuss specific academic priorities.
  • Support the Director of Development and Parsons Development team in drafting selected letters, proposals, reports, and other text as needed.
  • Support the Parsons Board of Governors.
  • Support the Parsons Fashion Benefit by closing ticket and table sales as well as scholarship gifts and staffing the event.

Other duties as assigned.

Travel required approximately 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years of experience working in frontline fundraising or related field.
  • Experience building relationships and soliciting gifts from individuals.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to meet aggressive annual fundraising goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An entrepreneurial disposition and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • A strong work ethic and integrity.
